Micro Craft Increases Machining Capability and Capacity

Micro Craft, Inc. recently increased their manufacturing capability and capacity with the purchase and installation of two new CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Mazak mills as part of their facility upgrade project. “The addition of these machines will assist Micro Craft in better serving the aerospace and defense market” according to Dr. Kenneth W. Sullivan, President/CEO of Micro Craft. Mr. Jim Ivins, Operations Managers added, “The larger of the two mills is a Mazak Variaxis i-1050T five-axis mill that can machine a part 47” (x-axis) by 54” (y-axis) by 35” (z-axis). This machine has the latest leading edge technology designed for five-axis machining, as well as turning capability.  The second machine is a Mazak VTC-25050D three-axis mill that can machine a part 69” (x-axis) by 25” (y-axis) by 26” (z-axis).”

In addition to the new Mazak mills, Micro Craft has been undergoing a multi-year, multi-million dollar improvement program which included the purchase of the facility, equipment and business systems purchases/upgrades and overall facility upgrades (both external and internal). “Micro Craft has been a prominent member of the Tullahoma business community for over six decades and we must continuously upgrade both our equipment and processes to remain competitive in the high tech industry which we serve,” added Dr. Sullivan.

Since 1958, Micro Craft, Inc. has provided support to the aerospace industry, NASA, and the Department of Defense (DOD) with prototype models and flight hardware. Micro Craft, Inc. has been employee-owned (ESOP) since 2011 and is a certified Small Business that is AS9100 Rev.
